Performed a variety of operations and law enforcement duties in support of a county jail housing 2500 inmates incarcerated for offenses ranging from misdemeanors to violent crimes. Joined the organization as a Deputy Sheriff, assuming Field Trainer duties in 1993 and Certified Instructor role in 1998. Established and managed the entire Canine Detection Program from 2004 to 2011. Promoted in 2001 to Sergeant.SERGEANT – 02/2001 TO 09/2011 DEPUTY SHERIFF – 11/1989 TO 02/2001Supervised 30 officers with full accountability for employee safety, performance and teamwork. Interviewed and selected for special assignments including hostage negotiation and high profile investigations generating local and national media coverage. As a Deputy Sheriff, performed front-line police officer duties with frequent selection for additional concurrent assignments. As an individual mentor and classroom instructor, demonstrated expertise in all aspects of law enforcement, such as investigations, interrogations, interviews, surveillance, explosive detection, canine handling, undercover operations, hostage negotiations, fugitive apprehension and executive protection.
