A project for the Bureau of Soils and Water Management of the Department of Agriculture in the Republic of the Philippines involving a large map digitization effort. Many of the paper maps are approaching 50 years in age and it is necessary to preserve this information in a digital format.Project Details:• Over 900 paper/mylar maps were scanned and georeferenced then digitized into polygon shapefiles using ArcScan and some manual tracing effort by a team of 6 in just over a 4-week period.• Worked remotely from Toledo, OH while the rest of the team was located in Norwood, MA and Providence, RI• Developed automation tools within an ArcGIS environment to improve production speed and accuracy of map information.• Assisted the team lead with quality control and quality assurance of maps to ensure accuracy and maintain a tight schedule
