ResearcherColorado State University May 2016 - Feb 2017Department Of Microbiology, Immunology And Pathology- Cultured primary cancer cell-lines from canine tumors and evaluated the cell cultures with immunocytochemistry. - Inoculated the cancer cell-lines with recombinant myxoma virus and assessed for cytopathic effects.- Ran western immunoblot to detect the late myxoma virus protein indicative that the virus was able to invade and replicate within the caner cells. In the end, our studies suggested that canine osteosarcoma and soft tissue sarcoma primary cell cultures are lacking antiviral mechanisms and susceptible to myxoma virus infection leading to oncolysis.- Performed PCR analysis from a variety of samples collected from patients with soft tissue sarcomas that were inoculated with recombinant myxoma virus.
