Profile bio

About Kirsi Mikkonen

Kirsi is on a mission to turn company by company into Agile, leading to a better working environment for people and increased company profitability.I am deeply fascinated by the Power of Positivity, Compassion, and Feelings at work: Research (Fredrickson, B. L. (2013)) shows that employees with a positive mindset BUILD RESOURCEFULNESS over time, and positive people also have higher RESILIENCE. Both qualities are highly valued in today’s leading companies. When an organization is under the pressure of change, supporting people to get on a positive mindset will remarkably accelerate the shift. That is what I want to achieve!I have learned and practiced Lean&Agile thinking since 2008. My favourite quotes are: ACT your way into a new way of THINKING, Tweak the ENVIRONMENT to build new habits, and TRIAL & RETROSPECT & LEARN. Applying Lean and Agile thinking to assistants' work (2013) was an eye-opening experiment: I realized that Agile&Lean is about changing mindsets, not solely implementing a software practice.I strengthened my facilitation skills with neuroscience-based Coaching skills to be more genuinely present and open in people-involvement situations. Using coaching skills as a manager, I have excellent skills to help employees find their true inner motivation for their work. Neuroscience studies have given me new insight into why Agile methods are so powerful.Taking Personal Responsibility for every aspect of my work and life is my ever-ending learning path. I follow C. Avery's statement:INTENTION – Intending to respond from Responsibility when things go wrong.AWARENESS – Catching yourself in the mental states of Denial, Lay Blame, Justify, Shame, Obligation, and Quit.CONFRONT – Facing yourself to see what is true so that you can learn, correct, or improve.Deep inside me exists the temper of one of the world's best Telemark skiers and sailors. These endeavours reached success through hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, and sacrificing. Most of all success follows when you LOVE what you are doing and are always inspired to learn

Listed skills include Agile Methodologies, Coaching, Change Management, Emotional Intelligence, and 23 others.
