As a member of the senior management team, develop and implement a comprehensive fund development program for the Bay Area’s leading regional provider of children and family services with an annual operating budget of $22 million. Guide board development including recruitment, enlistment, and leadership succession planning as liaison to the Resource Development Committee. Supervise a staff of five development professionals and oversee management of all development programs and budgets. Led and implemented the redesign and relaunch of the brand, including new website, core positioning, messaging, visual identity, content and collateral.

Serve on the Oakland Rotary Endowment Board of Directors.I was raised to give back—so joining Rotary seemed like a natural fit. Except I avoided it for a long time. Until I didn’t.Let’s just say that Oakland Rotary isn’t your dad’s or your grandpa’s Rotary. Oakland Rotary is a wonderful, surprising mash-up of like-minded, like-hearted people engaging in significant acts of service that make a real difference in the lives of others. They put service above self. They remember the names of your kids. They get their hands dirty. Most Thursdays, I unplug at lunch, connect with people, and hear from the most interesting guest speakers in the Bay Area. Then there’s the times when I get to make art with kids at one of our KinderPrep sites or go for a moonlight kayak on the Bay with the High Adventure crew or dive into our social media plan over wine with the communications committee. Rotary is good works and good people. It’s a blast. Should have joined years ago.

Support the important Downtown Oakland Association, which fosters an environment where businesses thrive, art flourishes, and residents and visitors alike can enjoy all that downtown Oakland has to offer.The Downtown Oakland Association is a Community Benefit District (CBD), which is revitalizing a 19-block area in the heart of Oakland, California by providing special benefit services such as district maintenance, safety and security management, and community and cultural enrichment. The District was formed following a vote of property owners in 2009 to support a voluntary property tax to fund these additional services over the next 10 years.

Responsible for a consistent 10% annual increase in individual giving revenues since 2009. Personal initiatives placing a greater emphasis on major giving strategies, branding and fiscal management have been key drivers in thriving revenue generation despite the recent challenging economic environment. Directed the successful 2010-2013 capital campaign for the purchase, renovation and relocation of Girls Inc.’s administrative headquarters to Oakland, CA. Despite the recession, fundraising exceeded the $10.85 million goal, generating $11.4 million; 105% of the overall goal while also remaining on schedule for opening. Before joining Girls Inc., served as vice president of Netzel Grigsby Associates. As a key member of the management and consulting firm, served clients ranging from youth, education and social service organizations to museums and theater companies. Work included successful capital campaigns, major gift programs, board development and strategic planning. As an independent nonprofit consultant for the United Way, led executive staff and volunteers through strategic planning and goal setting for major gifts and workplace campaigns; developing and facilitating fundraising training programs to prepare staff and volunteers for developing donor relationships and increasing support. Also served as the Training Director for the Northern California Division of First Interstate Bank, following corporate positions in sales management and marketing. A graduate of the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, earned a B.A. degree in journalism and mass communications. A life-long community volunteer, currently serve as a Board Member of the Downtown Oakland Association and as an active member of the Oakland Chamber of Commerce. Also, a former appointed member of the Walnut Creek Civic Arts Education Advisory Council, two-term Board President of the Teen and Parent Service Society (TAPS), and member of the Junior League of Oakland East Bay.

As Vice President of Netzel Grigsby Associates-West in Northern and Central California, I had extensive experience working with a diverse and complex client base from small grassroots nonprofits to large and established philanthropic institutions, including San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art and the Greater Bay Area Make-A-Wish Foundation.
