I am a 5-time Olympian dedicated to sport, Africa, women and children. I use my platform and influence to create positive and sustainable impact. In addition to the experiences from my personal journey, I serve on multiple sporting organizations around the world. If I am passionate about something, I will do it, and I do it with the competitive nature for which I’m known.Despite coming from a landlocked country in Africa, I dedicated over 20 years to becoming the top female swimmer in the history of the Olympic Games. I have been to 5 Olympic Games, won 7 individual Olympic medals (2 Gold, 4 Silver, 1 Bronze), broken multiple world records and had one of the best World Championship careers of all time. However, none of this is as important as what this success did and can do for others: it united my country where divisions caused by economic and political turmoil were crippling it, and it gave hope to people who thought their circumstances prevented them from following their dreams. I am on a mission to continue creating constructive sustainable changes through sport. I am a member of the International Olympic Committee, Vice-President of the Zimbabwe Olympic Committee, Vice-President of the International Surfing Federation, a member of FINA’s athlete committee and a member of the World Anti-Doping Agency. I have also recently established the Kirsty Coventry Academy and learn-to-swim programs, which focus on youth development, health and education in Zimbabwe, with the aim of taking this throughout Africa. I love being in front of the camera or on the podium, having discussion on the radio, talking to kids, and speaking at events where I can motivate and inspire others by sharing my experiences. I probably love my family and dogs the most, but that’s because they keep me grounded, on the right track and love me for who I am.
