Thesis Title: Acceleration of DNA Sequence Alignment Tools Using Hardware-Software Co-Design

Contributed to the "Integration of Design Exploration Framework for FPGA-based SoCs" project, focusing on FPGA-based SoC development. SoC developers increasingly use FPGA devices to build hardware systems instead of manufacturing integrated circuits (ICs). FPGAs allow dynamic configuration of hardware logic designs, enabling modifications as needed. FPGA-based SoCs combine software (running on soft-core/hard-core processors configured/embedded in the FPGA) and hardware (configured directly on the FPGA fabric). This project developed a framework to optimize the partitioning of user applications (written in a high-level language like C/C++) between software and hardware, considering resource constraints on the specified FPGA device.
