Kishan Shetty was born and educated in Chennai, India. He completed a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering with a first class from the University of Madras in 2003. In 2005, he started his Master's degree by Research in the field of Micro electro mechanical systems (MEMS) engineering in Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. Upon graduation in 2006, he worked for three years as a Diffusion Process Engineer in semiconductor industry. In Global Foundries Singapore, he worked in Fab 7, 300 mm wafer foundry and worked on atmospheric, low pressure chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and rapid thermal diffusion processing equipment. He worked on various technology nodes ranging from 0.13 microns to 45 nano meters. He joined Intel Micron (IM) Flash Technologies in 2007 and was deputed at company's headquarters in Utah, USA as a part of overseas training on diffusion low pressure CVD processing equipment. His role required him to get trained and conduct process transfer of 50 nm flash memory technology from USA to the manufacturing facility in Singapore. He joined Solar Energy Research Institute of Singapore (SERIS) in mid-2009 as a Research Fellow and had been one of the key technical members to set up the pilot line production capabilities for silicon wafer based solar cells. His primary responsibilities include diffusion process development to produce high efficiency solar cells using cost effective methodologies. Diffusion equipment ownership, establishment of Work Instruction (WI), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), equipment installation, process start-up, commissioning, troubleshooting and equipment maintenance are a part of his everyday work activity. Project management, industrial process optimization, technology transfers, quality control and advanced solar cell research activities are his areas of expertise.
