"Life is a daring adventure, or nothing at all" I've spent my career looking for the adventure in the everyday, even in small things. As a school librarian for the past decade I've had the distinct pleasure of bringing moments of excitment and engagement into my students lives, helping them delve deeper into their personal interests and make connections to their classwork, and, perhaps my favorite part of being a librarian, helping them find the joy in a good story. In addition to working as a librarian, I also have degrees in Cultural Heritage Preservation and Native American Studies and am always looking for new ways to combine and share my interests. One way that I love to both expand my own knowledge base and share with others is participating in and presenting at workshops and conferences. Most recently my focus has been on diversifying collections in both libraries and classrooms, as well as presenting on EL Education, specifically how the library can work seamlessly with grade level teams on expeditions.In my spare time I travel and try and find adventures in the great outdoors. Whether it be hiking, kayaking or photographing wildlife, I'm always looking for new ways to explore. However, my favorite part of travelling is the people you meet along the way, and some of my best moments are when I'm sitting and watching wildlife and I get to interact with other people who stop, maybe tell them a story about the area or the animal, and share the experience with them. Getting to see people experience some of my favorite places is by far the best part. I'm looking forward to whatever the next adventure brings.
