CurrentAtlantic Black Box is a public history project that empowers communities throughout New England to take up the critical work of researching and reckoning with our region’s role in the global slave trade and the broader slave economy. This grassroots historical recovery project operates on an “enlightened crowdsourcing” model, guided by a coalition of scholars, professionals, and community leaders. Because so many hands participated in burying this history, we believe it will take just as many hands to uncover it.
