The Arts Group is a Students’ Union representative body for UK FE and HE institutions with a specialist interests in the Arts. Its aim is to research, report, and act on a local, national and international level on issues of importance or common interest to students of Arts subjects and their Students’ Unions. It also aims to offer support and information to members of the Arts Group and provide an opportunity for lobbying in conjunction with organizations such as the NUS. We currently represent over 45,000 people.

The Campaigns and Communications Officer is responsible for SU publications and front facing communication with members and external agencies as well as taking a lead in SU driven campaigns. I work closely with internal communications teams, developing physical and virtual methods for spreading information across the 26,000+ members and 17 sites in the institution.

In my positions at NUS Services Ltd I act in the capacity of a Non-Executive Director on the Board of the company. As a Board member I have contributed to strategy and decision making ranging from dealing with pensions and accounts issues, through to high-level communications strategy and efficiency studies. My role in Finance & Resources has extended upon some of these specific functions, scrutinizing and ensuring the smooth running of a multi-million pound trading activities.As Deputy Chair of Business & Enterprise I serve on the corresponding committee, planning new income streams for the company and our members. In the past year our new areas of activity grown from the committee have included initiatives such as seed funding schemes, creation of Energy Market products, the pilot stage for a national skills agency, as well as more typical sector products focussed on our entertainments portfolio and similar.
