Develop and deploy firmwide business development initiatives and special projects focusing on alumni relations, and assist attorneys and clients transition into in house career roles. Manage an orientation program for all new partners covering relevant subjects such as firm governance, partner compensation, data privacy, matter management, business development, Big Law rainmaking, and talent management best practices. Launched the “We Are Weil” global alumni program, the components of which include publishing a quarterly magazine which highlights the accomplishments of our alumni and leading practices of the firm, circulating to partners industry-specific “watchlists” identifying notable alumni employed with clients and prospects, and managing all event logistics and budgets for various networking events, including an Alumni CLE Conference & Reunion Gala.

Designed and delivered diversity training to attorneys and staff throughout the United States and United Kingdom on topics such as unconscious bias in the workplace and other challenges managing the recruitment, retention, development, sponsorship and cross-cultural collaboration of diverse employees in a global law firm. Coordinated all logistics and program content for the firm’s affinity group global conferences including confirmation of keynote speakers, alumni and client outreach, communications, event branding and preparation of talking points for members of firm’s Management Committee. Closely collaborated with Professional Hiring Steering Committee to bolster recruiting efforts among law students of historically underrepresented groups by organizing various networking receptions and seminars..

Research and present future trends on the workforce, workplace and marketplace of leading industries. Advise executives, senior managers and individual contributors on best practices for development and execution of comprehensive, long-term, global diversity and inclusion strategy. Industries of focus include law firms, legal departments and financial services.

Provide compliance coverage for the Private Investment Management division in accordance with the various federal and state securities regulations, SEC and FINRA rules. Develop and implement policies and procedures for the transactional and advisory businesses through updates to the compliance manual and oral presentations. Liaise closely with senior management in various business divisions including Risk, Sales, Operations, Information Technology, and Employee Relations. Substantive areas include securities transactions issues, strategic initiatives including retail distribution of hedge funds, fund-of-funds, private equity and structured products, Rule 206(4)-7 compliance review of advisory businesses, preparation of Form ADV Part II, information barriers, and cross border relationships. Prepare written responses and coordinate document production in connection with regulatory exams and requests for information by regulators.

Devise strategy and independently manage the Enterprise’s national sales practices and securities litigation and arbitrations concerning fraud in the purchase or sale of mutual funds, annuities and suitability of variable financial products. Prepare and defend senior business leaders to offer testimony at trial, deposition, and interviews with state and federal regulators and investigators. Provide ongoing written and oral presentations to senior legal and business management and the General Counsel concerning sales practices and securities litigation matters in which the Enterprise faces substantial potential exposure. Coordinate voluminous document productions and draft written responses to subpoenas and inquiries by the SEC, FINRA, Attorneys General, and various state insurance and securities divisions. Negotiate favorable settlements for matters arising throughout the country in which the Enterprise faced potential exposure in the millions of dollars.

First-chaired depositions. Prepared senior executives and mid-level management for trial and arbitration. Drafted successful and lengthy legal memoranda for the firm’s most esteemed and discerning business clients under stringent time pressures.

Drafted and edited legal memoranda and opinions for the Chief Judge involving federal habeas corpus issues, complex commercial contracts, prisoner's rights, and class actions. Wrote keynote speeches for presentations before the Alabama State Bar Association.
