As part of the Klawock Cooperative Association (KCA), I writing a comprehensive and coordinated Community Development Action Plan to address prioritized community needs. To do this I facilitate visioning exercises to establish short and long term social and economic strategies for Klawock in order to increase self-sufficiency and community well-being. Administer surveys to extract quantitative data. Advise project partners regarding the interpretation of data as well as prepare and present reports for the Regional Housing Authority, City Council, Tribal Council, ANA staff and local residents

Intern for Bristol Bay Native Association, in which I assisted National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) social scientists in their collaborative research project, “Capturing History and Forging the Future: Alaskan Native Women in Fisheries”. As well as assisting NOAA researchers, I was also assigned to a project with Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Subsistence called, “Naknek River Subsistence Salmon Harvest Assessment and Cultural Context”. This research was a series of Oral History interviews with residents in Bristol Bay about their relationship to their resource. Oral History was chosen as the interview style as it is highly emic perspective of data collection, as well as participant observation.

Sitka, Alaska

I worked under a cooperative agreement between the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and Sitka Tribe of Alaska (STA). Funding for my project was made possible by the Native American Land Environmental Mitigation Program (NALEMP). Sitka Tribe of Alaska recognizes access to customary and traditional activities increases their Tribal Citizens’ mental and physical well being. In the 40s, the United States military installed a number of harbor defense sites, many on culturally significant or sacred land. These sites were abandoned after the war. Side note - I also worked with STA’s NAGPRA collections.Composed and submitted technical reports to the US Army Corps of Engineers, Department of Defense Conduct reconnaissance trips in the field in remote locationsUsed ArcGIS to map remains of defense sitesWrote and managed NAGPRA Repatriation grants
