Worked with the McCarthy Team at EMBL Grenoble on a project related to characterizing and calibrating the mini-kappa goniometer designed there. Also worked on the structural characterization of several novel proteins.

Continued my work in the attenuation of radiation-induced damage to protein crystals.

Continued work on radiation damage to protein crystals from preceding summer.

Focused on the molecular mechanisms underlying evolution through studies designed to explore the fitness conferring structural changes that arise within proteins under selective pressure. Work addressed the fixation of specific mutants in the molecular evolution experiments performed by my colleagues and contributed to efforts to model the probabilities.

Began work with the SMB group at SSRL to prolong protein crystal life during exposure to high brilliance X-ray sources through several novel methods.

Worked under Physics Group leader Paul Emma on a CCD-based digital system capable of resolving translational changes in position at a sub-micron scale. The algorithm developed in MATLAB may be used to monitor undulator stability in the LCLS2 project at SLAC.
