Dedicated to health care design throughout the mid-Atlantic and internationally, BROOKSBRIGHT is focused on master planning, design and technology to implement owners' strategic vision. • Rebuilt the company’s entire IT infrastructure from the ground up, including the upgrade and/or replacement of all HP and Dell servers, VMware virtual environment (v3.5 thru v6.5), HP, EMC and FreeNAS SANs, Cisco and Cisco Meraki network equipment and Microsoft Windows – all with zero downtime to the users during the upgrades/migrations. • Engineered a custom hardware platform using Microsoft RDS and RemoteFX with a special hardware configuration to allow users to run Revit, AutoCAD and other graphic intensive applications from anywhere in the world over low bandwidth Internet connections.• Replaced all the Cisco networking equipment with Meraki and Barracuda hardware, improving manageability and network bandwidth and reducing annual support costs by over 65%.• Engineered and implemented a disaster recovery system using disk-to-disk-to-tape backup system with Symantec Backup Exec and vRanger software and FreeNAS snapshots in order to maintain multiple on-line disk-based backups and offsite backups for disaster recovery.• Replaced the company’s outdated Internet connections increasing available bandwidth by a factor of ten, reducing annual communication costs by 75% and virtually eliminating all Internet downtime.• Reduced average network downtime from 4-5 hours per week prior to upgrades, to less than a few minutes per year, all of which was scheduled maintenance downtime.• Implemented PaperCut NG print/plot tracking software to replace existing Technesis platform, saving more than 75% in annual software maintenance costs, increased recovered printing costs by more than 1000% monthly by more effectively capturing billable print costs.• Implemented BMC Track-It! helpdesk and asset management software to manage activities of IT Department and BIM Team.• Received more than four dozen “Thank You” recognition awards from fellow staff and management for various contributions.

• Managed the network infrastructure in the corporate headquarters, seven remote offices and multiple temporary project management offices in VA, MD, NC and SC.• Provided project management, support and direction for the support and helpdesk team.• Established multiple temporary project management offices including the installation and configuration of all networking and telecommunication services and equipment.• Implemented new network architecture to integrate remote offices providing more than 5 times the available bandwidth at 1/10 the cost of how they had been doing it previously.• Managed the migration and upgrade of the company’s Windows 2003 domain to Windows 2008 R2.• Consulted with the management team to establish new best practices related to temporary office setup, resulting in monthly cost savings nearing 80%, while also significantly improving connectivity to the corporate network.• Created documentation and network drawings detailing the corporate network.• Resigned after company was unexpectedly sold to Comfort Systems USA and was informed their corporate I.T. department would be implementing immediate changes that would likely affect my continued employment.

IT Specialist / IT Manager • Managed all aspects of the company’s IT infrastructure, including the specification, procurement, installation, configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance of all servers, workstations, peripherals, networking hardware and telecommunications equipment. • Managed the growth of the company’s network from two Windows NT 3.51 servers and 20 Windows 3.1/95 workstations running on a peer-to-peer network, to the company’s current Windows Server 2008 Active Directory domain, with more than 20 Windows 2003/2008 servers, over 125 WinXP/Vista/Win7 workstations and multiple T1, FiOS, ISDN and DSL data circuits.• Maintained a proven record of network uptime and service availability, with less than four hours of downtime over a 13+ year period, excluding total environmental power loss and absolutely no loss of data.• Implemented and managed multiple database servers using MS SQL 6.5, 7.0, 2000, 2005 and 2008, IBM DB2/400, Sybase, MySQL 5 and Firebird.• Developed a PHP add-on for the company’s proprietary AS400 business system facilitating direct electronic delivery of invoices into customer’s business systems, reducing payment times by over two weeks.• Individually engineered and implemented a $60,000+ HTML/PHP/MSSQL based pilot project to automate manual operator data entry forms for one production line for the Philip Morris Park 500 Plant in Chester, VA. Success of this project resulted in an additional $100,000+ in orders to implement the solution across the entire plant.• Developed an MS Access database w/ links to an IBM DB2/400 database to automate production of the company’s monthly financial reports, reducing them from a 2-3 day manual effort to less than 15 minutes per month.

Process Control Network Co-Administrator• Co-managed the plant’s process control network, consisting of DEC VAX, Alpha, X-Window and Windows NT servers and workstations. Regularly performed software installations, upgrades and backups of mission-critical production systems.• Managed the equipment module of the plant’s engineering, resource, maintenance and materials system, which consisted of building, maintaining and integrating a database of all relevant information for more than 10,000 individual pieces of process control equipment and instrumentation installed in the plant over a 40 year period.• Developed an MS Access/SQL Server-based reporting application for the PERMAC business system to assist in manpower planning and planned maintenance, saving hundreds of man hours and hundreds of thousands of dollars in material costs and lost production annually by reducing or eliminating unnecessary planned equipment maintenance.Distributed Control Systems Engineer• Provided project and day-to-day configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance and support of the plant’s PROVOX distributed control system split across four continuous production units and 18 batch lines consisting of more than 8,000 I/O, 30+ SR90 and SRx controllers, and PROVUE (Q-Bus and VME) and OWP operator consoles.• Coordinated the tagging of all the process control equipment and instrumentation within the plant to insure compliance with ISA and plant-specific tagging standards.• Developed a custom screen-printing solution for the Operator Workplace X-term console system, when the functionality was lost after upgrading from the older VAX-based Fisher PROVUE consoles.
