I am currently serving as the staff leader for the Minnesota Municipal Utilities Association, a nonprofit organization representing the interests of municipally-owned utilities in Minnesota and surrounding states. MMUA promotes the hometown utility model and helps local professionals address the challenges they face each day. Together, we deliver exceptional services so customers can be confident in and proud of these valuable community assets. • Guide the development and implementation of strategic and operational plans. • Actively engage in government relations at the local, state, and national levels.• Develop new lines of mission-critical business.• Seek opportunities for funding and collaboration among utilities, and oversee the implementation of projects.• Foster an effective workplace culture that attracts and retains the region's finest nonprofit, utility, and safety professionals.• Provide professional consulting services for members related to strategic planning, operational planning/accountability, leadership and staff development.

Provided leadership that positioned the association to effectively address opportunities for improvement in branding, messaging, member standards and training, and revenue building. Implemented governance and operating procedures that addressed major areas of risk exposure. • Transformed the organization, significantly improved its financial position, clarified and enhanced its image and reputation, optimized technology’s contribution to the business and provided thought leadership for the industry at the nexus of business and technology.

Drove an organizational transformation that positioned this $14MM society with 22,000 members in 90 countries to better attract and retain members. Realigned recruiting efforts with the association’s mission and the needs of the Pharma Manufacturing companies that often funded and sponsored the society’s members. Managed membership, practice, certification and research programs for 40 global affiliates/chapters and 19 communities of practice. Identified ISPE and industry needs as a prelude to creating and implementing strategies for growth.• Improved the member experience, provided strategic financial leadership in revenue generation and revenue sharing and paved the way for industry innovation and course correction.

Enhanced communications and improved technical support across the organization in areas including board development, fundraising, strategic planning, and project management. Strengthened stakeholder engagement in the association’s program planning and evaluation efforts. Positively impacted the performance of 18 chapters in a greater Midwest Region which collectively raised $23MM annually. • Optimizing collaboration between HQ and the chapters, engaged and advised stakeholders in organizational excellence initiatives, provided sound financial leadership and enhanced the organization’s professionalism.

Helped this nonprofit organization optimize its mission and better address the needs of poor, hungry, homeless, and housing-vulnerable constituents. Responsible for overall operational management of this complex charity, including program development/delivery, financial management, human resources, fundraising, community relations, IT, and multifaceted physical plant administration, and served as spokesperson for the organization. • Identified key needs, improved internal functionality and performance, drove innovation to break the cycle of hunger and homelessness and championed the mission to drive funding growth.

Achieved therapeutic treatment results that were consistently tied for first place in stakeholder rankings while delivering net positive operating revenue. Built and retained a staff of 80 professionals in a remote community. Steered the organization through re-accreditation by COA.
