Test driven development of new instructions (encodings) in different versions of the assembler. After development assembler would be released to customers as part of the VDSP tool kit.Added support to assembler to work around HW anomolies in different versions of DSP. Bug fixing and automated regression testing of this assembler.Development of 2 generic backend generators in our Advanced Development Environment : Disassembler generator and fast functional simulator generator. Both 5K-10K lines of C++Use of these ADE generators with an evolving 128 bit instruction set for a new DSP core described in a set of Machine Description files created by the team using a syntax defined by the team.Building a Fast Functional Simulator from these generated sources dealing with compliation issues and link-time issues. Small compiler business which worked on all major Unix systems. Development and support of Fortran 77 product for customers including ICL , Data General , Concurrent Systems. Development work on the world's first commercial full Fortran 90 compiler. Worked on joint development with customers including HP , Intel Corp.Test driven development of Vax Records language extension in EPC Fortran 77.Development of Parallel F77 compiler for Data General. KAI Preprocess added directives around loops. The compiler created functions for the loops. The F77 run-time spawned these as threads. DG-UX allocated these threads to different processors. The F77 runtime library was made thread-safe for this.Setting up automated test suite of F77 test material including standard test suites , libraries , customer applications , standard benchmarks , bug regression tests. 500k+ lines of F77 source code.Ports , documentation , testing and releases of the F77 compiler to many different Unix systems.Supported with an important Data General customer -Bloombergs. Bloombergs are said to have had 25 million lines of Fortran 77 code used by traders on their terminals. Supported the Fortran compiler when they moved from DG/UX 88K systems to 386 systems.
