I received my PhD from Duke University (2021). My NIH-funded dissertation research focused on symptoms of adults with Multiple Sclerosis using the MURDOCK-MS dataset. I am interested in symptom science, neurological symptoms and disorders, multiple sclerosis, autoimmune disorders, clinical outcomes assessment, patient reported outcomes, patient centered care, disability, applied neuroscience, genetics/genomics, interoception, research ethics, and biostatistics. I have a Certificate in Cognitive Neuroscience and a Certificate in College Teaching. As well as graduate level training in genetics/genomics and statistics. Previously, I have served as a Nurse Scientist voting member of an IRB specializing in HUD/HDEs, and ran Neurosurgery Clinical Trials focusing primarily on intracranial aneurysm repair. I am interested in working in research and industry, research ethics , and working with an IRB.I have experience working in a Human Performance Laboratory and an animal research laboratory. I have worked in clinical trials, data collection, environmental health and ecotoxicology, bedside patient care in cardiology and orthopedics, endovascular neurosurgery research, as well as providing care in a number of different areas and settings; including, but not limited to nephrology, oncology, general medical-surgical care, rehab, and school nursing. I have also worked as a an English as a second language (ESL) teacher in Hong Kong, a secretary for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, a transcriptionist, doing data entry for clinical trials, creating a database for data collection for clinical trials, a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer, a research assistant and intern, teaching the use of SAS for introductory statistics with PhD students, and a tutor (anatomy and physiology, microbiology, chemistry, mathematics, and physics). Competencies: SAS, working in interdisciplinary teams, designing & conducting research studies, research presentations, research dissemination, chronic illness trajectories & care systems, statistics & data analysis, theory development, advanced research methods, and quantitative, longitudinal & qualitative research methods. Typing, formatting documents, using Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). I have served in leadership roles with nursing organizations at the local and state level. I also play the French Horn, like to play Animal Crossing, and have received awards for cross stitch.
