Katherine Kellett Bathgate is the CEO & Co-Founder of SchoolForward. She has spent 12 years working at the intersection of public policy and communications and specializes in developing multi-disciplinary campaigns to advance new ideas and policies. She previously led the communications and marketing team at the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools to advance the charter school movement at the state, local, and federal level. From 2011-2013, she was the Deputy Press Secretary for the U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce where she launched and oversaw the committee’s digital communications work to help educate the public and members of Congress of the committee’s education, labor, and healthcare priorities. Her work was recognized with a Platinum Mouse Award by the Congressional Management Foundation. Katherine has secured media coverage from hundreds of news outlets across the country ranging from local papers to major cable news channels and contributed to the passage of numerous bills at the state and federal level. Katherine is a graduate of Claremont McKenna College and member of Phi Beta Kappa. She and her husband, Marc are the proud parents of two sons.

There are many firms that do public relations, but we focus exclusively on advancing ideas we care about. With each client, our first step is to understand specific organization goals and then tailor a communications and/or advocacy strategy to help meet those goals. Some of our recent work includes leading media relations for the Supreme Court cases Janus v. AFSCME and Friedrichs v. CTA. In 2017, we crafted and implemented communications and advocacy plans to help pass Kentucky’s first charter school bill and Arizona’s universal Education Savings Account program.
