Ph.D. Project: Nadph Dependant Thioredoxin Reductases In Arabidopsis ThalianaUniversity Of Seville Aug 2004 - Oct 2009* Characterized the gene family of NADPH Thioredoxin Reductases in Arabidopsis. * Elucidated the expression pattern of NtrC and the subcellular localization pattern of the mature protein in Arabidopsis by WB and histochemical Immunolocalization. * Dissected functional redundancies within the gene family by means of creating double mutants and transgenic plants in NTRs. * Have shown overoxidation of 2Cys-Prx, NTRC's target, in planta. This redox modification of 2Cys-Prx showed NTRCs implication in redox signaling.

Short Term Research VisitUniversitaet Wuerzburg Jul 2007 - Aug 2007Some of the mutant plants I had been working on during my PhD program where impaired in growth and development that could have been attributed to problems in their photosynthetic capacity.* Meassured photosynthetic capacity and energy loss associated with impaired photosynthesis in Arabidopsis plants in a non-invasive manner by imaging PAM. * Tested whether our mutants would behave differently when challenged with biotic stress. * Infected plants leaves with either a virulent or a non-virulent pathogen (Pseudomonas syr.) and monitored the spread and severity of the infection by iPAM.

Characterisation And Physico-Chemical Properties Of Potato Carboxypeptidase Inhibitor From Cv.ElkanaWageningen Universiteit And Research Center Sep 2001 - Mar 2002As part of my Master's project, I joined a lab whose focus lied on finding an economic outlet for the byproducts originating from the production of potato starch at an industrial scale. When producing potato starch a fair amount of proteins end up in the waste. * Isolated and purified the thermostable protein fraction from potato by SEC and HPLC. * Characterized the protein by means of biophysical analyses, s.a. DC, IEF, ITC and MALDI-ToF.
