• Develop and continuously improve test and calibration equipment for high performance endoscope, laser, LED optical systems, and near eye optical display systems for “mid-volume products.• Design, specify, prototype, document, procure, assemble, qualify, implement, and improve test equipment mechanical components and equipment.• Work closely with engineering teams such as product development, test software, and process development to understand mechanical requirements, develop robust, reliable, and reproducible test and calibration equipment.• Documentation to include generating equipment specifications, validation protocols, assembly instructions, preventative maintenance, and calibration (PMC) in addition to CAD component and assembly drawings.• Analyze, debug and root cause measurement accuracy, reliability, repeatability, and reproducibility of equipment issues.

• Lead the design, build, and test of the Optical Head in the Crossbeam Free Space Optical (FSO) Terminal• Derive subsystem requirements based on top level program requirements.• Troubleshoot issues and develop solutions that satisfy technical, cost, and schedule constraints of project. Generate and present findings to customer/management with FRB/RCCA documentation.• Design complex, low SWaP photonic systems accounting for various design constraint (structural, thermal, packaging, signal and fiber routing, EMI/EMC, PCB/FFC layout, DFx, shock/vibration)• Design electromechanical systems and precision mechanisms (actuator sizing, sensor selection, mechanism design, packaging, signal routing, etc.)• Perform environmental tests on systems in-house equipment and at local labs (shock, vibration, TVAC, mechanism lifetime)• Generate formal and informal documentation at various stages of development for multiple programs: trade studies, design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR), drawings, work instructions, BOMs• Mentor/train other engineers and technicians to overcome technical, process, or personnel challenges• Perform detailed mechanism design and analysis compliant with aerospace standards such as GEVS, SpaceX RPUG, NASA 5017-B, and AIAA-S114• Interface directly with multiple customers for satellite integration, troubleshooting, and design reviews• Work with vendors to evaluate manufacturing constraints and improve reliability/cost of high precision mechanical parts (machining, sheet metal, 3D printing, etc.)

• Complete concept designs for SBIR programs related to Free Space Optical (FSO) Communication and AR/VR systems• Support design, prototyping, analysis, and documentation for various projects• Rapid prototype new designs to improve product development process and timeline• Design components and generate drawings (ASME Y14.5 GD&T) to ensure CAD accurately translates to physical hardware• Manage full life cycle for complex assemblies (concept design, detailed design, analysis, prototype, manufacture, troubleshooting, verification, test, and transfer to manufacturing)• Fill in “gray areas” between engineering teams/departments to ensure projects progress efficiently and items are properly tracked• Complete opto-mechanical designs accounting for various design constraints (athermal design, bonding, precision adjustment, active alignment, structural, stray light suppression)

• Lead the design and manufacturing of the R3BEL 3D Bioprinter• Manage supply chain and part sourcing in order to reduce manufacturing/operation costs• Optimize the print paramaters of different biomaterials and models for use in our system• Implement aesthetic and functional design changes based on teacher and student feedback

• Ensure the safety of all student and safe operation of lab equipment• Provide advice on best practices for operating specific machines or software packages

• Develop concepts for new parts related to improving road safety and traffic flow• Continue to develop preventative maintenance reports and user friendliness• Work remotely to review technical briefs, checking for consistency and accuracy

• Work on an interdisciplinary team to complete projects for 3 different enterprises: Solar Sister, Kiva, and Angaza Design• Compile data during 2 month stay in Uganda and deliver formal reports to each company

• Assist students and faculty with technical problems in the IT Service Center• Record and archive detailed files pertaining to finances of Santa Clara University

• Update and create reports for international fleet of machines using Emaintenance program• Generate preventative maintenance requirements to improve machine reliability• Complete Engineering Change Notices using Solidworks and Navision
