About Kara Rutherford

I have six years of teaching experience in three very different classroom settings. I have taught K-8 resource, 9-12 self-contained, English and math, and K-2 self-contained, life skills. I continue to further my education to better understand federal and state regulations and laws. I enjoy special education which is why I've decided to pursue my director of special education endorsement. I will complete the program in the Spring of 2021. I graduated NIU in 2012 Summa Cum Laude with a 3.9 GPA. I graduated from American College of Education, in July 2018, with the M.A. in Educational Leadership with a 4.0 GPA. I am currently working as a Dean of Students at Shepherd Middle School which is one of five schools within the OES #141 school district.
