About Klaas Hartzema
Klaas Hartzema is an artist who has, not only in his art but also in his professional life as a re-integration worker in psychiatry, a very whimsical and pure look of the world. Klaas is giving art lessons and uses his own art as a language to express (subconscious) thoughts and emotions. He worked over 25 years with homeless people in Amsterdam, people with disabilities, autism and difficult behaviors.Born in Amsterdam, close to the red-light district, the reality and pitfalls of urban life played a huge role in his development and work. Klaas has created murals, book illustrations and sculptures, where one is standing on the streets in Amsterdam. His work has been in to galleries in Amsterdam, Berlin, and Milan. His inspiration comes from street art, comics and contemporary art. He’s exploring the world of digital art, ballpoint pen and various manners of mixed media.
