Kurt Lantz Work Experience Details
  • Trans-Texas Videoconference Network (Ttvn) At Texas A&M University
    Senior Video Network (It) Specialist
Trans-Texas Videoconference Network (Ttvn) At Texas A&M University Aug 2009 - Present
Technical Professional tasked with developing/maintaining robust, standards based, multi-vender video teleconferencing and High Definition (HD) live video streaming/recording hardware and software solutions.Accomplishments:• Significantly improved overall availability/reliability of internal infrastructure. Infrastructure improvements were a combination of migrating server and database hardware to fault-tolerant virtualized equivalents, retiring obsolete systems in favor of more economical commercial cloud solutions, migrating our data backup solution to a mainframe solution, etc.• Explored cloud-based solutions to upgrade our in-house live streaming solution. Selection settled on a cloud streaming solution from IBM Video (Ustream) to replace our in-house live streaming solution. Ustream provides an economical robust solution that has demonstrated scalability to support thousand-plus viewers globally. Along with university related streams, this system has successfully been used for high profile events with The Discovery Channel, International Space Station (IIS) and SpaceX.• Ground-up redesign and implementation of a portable, live video streaming system for use throughout Texas. The system supports multiple camera/video sources and provides High-Definition video streaming for global distribution and also supports modern video teleconferencing applications such as Zoom.• Developed and launched completely redesigned, PHP-based web site for EBS’s Trans-Texas Videoconference Network (TTVN). New web site was to accommodate new teleconferencing management software and database format.
  • Dresser Wayne
    Consulting Senior Electrical Engineer
    Dresser Wayne Aug 2008 - Oct 2008
    Austin, Tx, Us
Consulting electrical engineer tasked to evaluate and develop an industrial grade, point-to-point network solution for global deployment. Solution needed to comply with all global regulatory standards. Design focus was on spread-spectrum RF data transmission solution which involved my technical negotiations with strategic industry partners.
  • Deaton Engineering
    Consulting Senior Electrical Engineer
    Deaton Engineering Aug 2007 - Aug 2008
    Us
Consulting electrical engineer tasked to design/develop electronic systems for Deaton’s clients. Position requires extensive interaction with clients to determine the design’s requirements, restrictions, etc.Accomplishments:• Redesigned entire electronics subsystem for Pratt & Whitney’s proprietary, photo-multiplier tube (PMT) based, computed tomography (CT) x-ray scanner. Redesign included new power distribution subsystem, higher PMT high-voltage stability, and greatly improved signal-to-noise parameters through redesign of all system PCBs. Enhancements provided exceptional system performance improvements which allows for thicker/denser objects to be scanned. System’s targeted operational life is 20 years.• Responsible for the electronics design/development of a military-grade, rechargeable, Lithium Ion battery powered, Infra-Red (IR) beacon and video camera subsystems for the ‘US Army Tactical Automatic Landing Tracking System’ field enhancement prototype.• Developed PIC based prototype for a disposable, battery driven medical device used to dry fascia tissue during eardrum reconstruction surgery.
