Main goal of the project was the establishment of activation-induced marker (AIM) assay to detect specific T cell immune responses against SARS-CoV-2 in multiple sclerosis patients. Using the AIM assay, we aimed to detect past infections, to differentiate between immunity acquired due to vaccination and natural infection, and to detect immune response in vaccinated patients under immunosuppressive treatment.

My project focused on the role of the GABAB receptor auxiliary subunits (KCTD proteins) in receptor trafficking and cell surface stability that are involved in modulation of neuronal inhibition. This was collaboration between First Faculty of Medicine of the Charles University in Prague and Department of Cellular Neurophysiology at the Institute of Physiology of Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (ASCR). I studied the relationship between structure and function of the vanilloid receptor that is involved in pain transmission using molecular biology techniques in combination with electrophysiology. As a model I used transfected HEK293T cells and dorsal root ganglion neurons.

This was collaboration between Department of Cellular Neurophysiology at the Institute of Physiology of Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (ASCR) and Department of Neuroscience of University Miguel Hernandez at San Juan de Alicante, group of Felix Viana de la Iglesia. We investigated the activity of TRP channels (capsaicin and menthol receptors) using Calcium imaging.

I was involved in the project studying the activity of Na+/K+ ATPase. I learned the standard techniques of molecular biology and protein chemistry.
