VanHier developed a recipe and production method which transforms local, natural waste streams that are currently burned or composted into a 100% natural, compostable & recyclable sheet material. This biomaterial (FytoPanel) is also suitable as building material.This material is made of 100% natural fibers and natural binders. This allows the material to be recycled well. The possibilities are endless, VanHier processes agricultural, horticultural and nature waste. Together with The Impact Hub & Provincie Noord Holland we went in discussion about what we need. How can the Provincie Noord Holland assist the Circular Economy? Regeneration Design was member of the circular advisory group. The aim of Regeneration Design is to bring the consumer/citizens, startups, municipalities and the manufacturing industry closer together to realize the Circular Economy. Frapak Packaging is a specialist in plastic packaging, mainly for the cosmetic- and pharma industry. The delivery-program contains bottles, jars, finger sprayers, soap and cream dispensers, trigger pumps and closures. FlexPET bv is a subsidiary of Frapak and together they are deeply involved in the engineering of moulds, development of production machines and decoration techniques. I did research on innovative and sustainable plastics and designed/developed new bottles/closures. As Innovator, my role was to link the chemical- and recycling companies, the factories and sales (marketing and communication).Knowledge of the production- and quality process was therefor important, so I also took care of quality issues. In my opinion, quality is an essential part of product design- and development because of the circular economy.

Besides the FCP, the assignment was also related to product design, human interface design and technology research.

Pezy is a partner in product innovation. Since its establishment in 1995, Pezy has become one of the leading product innovation companies in the Netherlands, especially in the field of complex plastic products and mechanics.I did an internship of 5 months in which I participated in several teams. Mainly activities were research, development by means of prototyping, functional and production development.After I had finished my internship, I extended my work activities at Pezy with 2 months as 'summer job' (full time). I worked also on several projects, especially function developments.
