McLaren tapped me through their new CIO (whom i previously worked for at Bombardier Transportation) and invited me to design, hire, train and mentor a new group of architects and developers to deliver on business requirements, functional analysis, software architecture, application design, code development, and systems operations for the new car company. As general architect of this new IT organization, my responsibility was to lead a cross functional and international team to upgrade and roll existing IT skills over to newer, leading edge technologies in an effort rebuild all of the automotive manufacturing systems in a brown field approach based on API and SOA methodologies and open source tooling. We operated across all five business units for 2 years to rebuild most of the required systems from scratch, and in a phased and agile approach.
