Mathematics Teacher
CurrentCurrently teaching or have taught 7th grade math, 8th grade math, Compacted 7/8 math, NC Math 1, NC Math 2, and Code.org’s Computer Science Discoveries course at The Expedition School, a K-8 public charter school. Previously served on the school-wide Math Curriculum Adoption Committee and currently serves on the school-wide Math Leadership Committee, including leading professional development for fellow teachers in the school.Develops cross-curricular project based learning units for students in line with state math standards. Presented on project work at the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) Annual Meeting in Los Angeles, CA in 2022 (Session #89) and in Washington, DC in 2023 (Session #562).Leads enrichment group for students in grades 6-8, including preparing students for the American Mathematics Competition (AMC) 8.Developed and implemented standards-aligned and specially-designed mathematics instruction using math learning progressions compatible with students’ Individual Education Program (IEP) service time and goals with 7th and 8th grade students in a pull-out setting.
