• Analyzed the interface between Al and InAs with transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). TEM images and AFM scans were used to investigate the accuracy of our MATLAB strain simulation of optimal Al orientation on InAs.• Became familiar with sample preparation and processes that pertained to focused ion beam/scanning electron microscope (FIB/SEM) and TEM.• Developed and tested electron beam lithography, development and etching parameters in order to fabricate Josephson junctions.

• Developed a framework for fabrication of silicon photonic crystal.Constructed an AutoCAD file of the photonic crystal with varying arrays.
