I am a curious researcher with over 11 years of experience in the field of evolutionary developmental biology. As a PostDoc at Kiel University, I have developed into an independent Principal Investigator and a senior lecturer. In recent years, I made several essential contributions to the Evo-Devo field - to our knowledge on the evolution of cancer, the biology of ageing and the evolution of nervous systems (see Publications). My current research is focused on the developmental role of novel genes and, specifically, their contribution to the nervous system's function.Although my research in recent years has been purely lab-based, I have ample experience in fieldwork, and field trips still occupy a special place in my heart. I am a passionate teacher and a dedicated mentor. A broad spectrum of courses in developmental biology and molecular cell biology is within my competence. Although I feel equally comfortable delivering a lecture or instructing a practical course, my truly favourite teaching format is a field course.Currently, I am actively looking for a new role which would align with my passions. I am looking for a project to fully engage my curiosity, fascination with nature, and teaching and mentoring skills.
