Corporate Controller
CurrentRecruited to lead the accounting and finance function into the next generation of ownership for a seven-decade-old Oil & Gas company. Responsible for maintaining the general ledgers of 24 active entities, including C-Corps, S-Corps, Partnerships, one Single Member LLC, a Professional Corporation, and a Non-Profit Family Foundation. Monthly processing includes reviewing and updating intercompany accounts, depreciation schedules, parts inventories, oil and gas assets, investments, and shareholder distribution accounts. Solely prepare all necessary monthly and annual financial statement adjustments in preparation for audit engagements of four C-Corps. Handle communications to and from auditors and respond to their information requests. Organize and compile monthly Workpapers for four C-Corps and annual Workpapers to assist accountants in filing timely tax returns for all 24 entities.• Compiled a 110-page process manual for all Controller-level job responsibilities within six months of hire, including graphical interpretation of complex processes and links to all supporting Workbooks.• Established monthly procedures to analyze operated crude oil and natural gas production, allowing management to gauge flowing reserves more accurately and appropriately position hedges to offset commodity price exposure.• Streamlined the processing of 3rd party revenue, converting manual data entry into automated procedures that eliminated keypunch errors and increased monthly efficiency by 67%.• Implemented changes to the organization’s accounting system maintenance contract, leading to perpetual annual cost savings of $10,000.
