Dr. Klint Peebles is a board-certified dermatologist with Kaiser Permanente, Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group in Washington, DC, and suburban Maryland. Born and raised in rural Mississippi, Dr. Peebles received a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience with a minor in Mandarin Chinese from Vanderbilt University, subsequently completing a medical degree and an internal medicine internship at Vanderbilt followed by dermatology residency at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison, Wisconsin. After serving as chief resident, Dr. Peebles joined the UW faculty as a complex medical and hospital inpatient dermatologist prior to relocating to Washington, DC in 2018. Dr. Peebles primarily focuses on complex medical dermatology with an emphasis on immunobullous and autoimmune connective tissue disorders as well as anogenital dermatology, cutaneous human papillomavirus infection, and anal dysplasia.With extensive clinical, leadership, and research expertise in sexual and gender diverse health and gender-affirming dermatology, Dr. Peebles is the immediate past chair of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) Expert Resource Group on LGBTQ/SGM Health, a member of the LGBTQ Health Specialty Section Council of the American Medical Association (AMA), and was chair of the LGBTQ-focused scientific session of the World Congress of Dermatology in 2023 in Singapore.Dr. Peebles is also a member of the editorial board of the Journal of the AAD and serves as co-chair of the journal’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Work Group. Within the AAD, Dr. Peebles is chair of the Access to Dermatologic Care Committee and also serves on the ad-hoc task force on monkeypox.A seasoned health care advocate, Dr. Peebles serves on the Board of Directors for theMedical Society of the District of Columbia, is the Advocacy Committee for the society, and is also part of the Dermatology Section Council of the American Medical Association, serving as Vice Chair of the council. Dr. Peebles has lectured extensively on topics of dermatology and sexual and gender diverse health, including at national conferences of the AMA, AAD, GLMA: Health Professionals Advancing LGBTQ Equality, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and the International Anal Neoplasia Society.Other areas of interest include health care policy and legislation, particularly regarding equitable access to gender-affirming care and access to minimally invasive affirmation procedures, as well as the intersections of public health, climate justice, and animal welfare.
