I was recruited as a Qualitative Research Assistant for an investigation about Professional Midwifery in urban Chiapas, Mexico. Among my responsibilities and duties were:• The production of a literature review on midwifery in Mexico, which helped me to develop my research skills.• The collection, verification, and analysis of data.• The elaboration of progress reports.• The translation of documents and the transcription of interviews from Spanish to English, maintaining accurate records and safeguarding confidentiality of subjects.

• I provided assistance at all the postgraduate open days, distributing leaflets, giving aspiring students tours around campus and helping during the information and counselling sessions.• I cooperated in the recruitment process of future students by responding to the enquires of over 80 candidates and their parents about the course, the University, accommodation options, living in Manchester and about their applications for both the University and their UK visas. The communication was carried out via e-mail, telephone, and face-to-face meetings.• I managed a database of candidates, recording the status of their applications, the recommendations made so far and the actions to be taken in the future. • I designed a social media strategy that raised in 25% our number of followers, and in 10% our number of visits to the newspaper’s webpage originated from such platforms.• I planned, created, and edited engaging contents for different types of audiences -like special investigations, interactive infographics, videos, photogalleries, cartoons and games-, with a rate of more than 75% of completion, greatly exceeding the target for a hard-news section (40-50%).• I incremented our number of especial contents from three per month to three per week and raised our number of average views per content from 3,000 to 7,000.• Co-led the meetings of Reforma’s World News section board of readers. I contributed to creating more channels of communication with the editors, like a direct chat, and increased the readers’ involvement in the selection of our topics, making them one of the most participative boards.• I collaborated in recruiting the most talented journalism professionals to work with us, as correspondents or columnists. For instance, I recruited our collaborator for the historic reopening of the US Embassy in Cuba. My speech, centred on the experience of Mexican journalists working in violent zones, was covered by over 100 journalists from 80 countries.• I edited texts, infographics, videos, and other materials produced by the news writers and correspondents. I became one of the official narrators and broadcasters of our videos.• I planned our daily, weekly and monthly agenda, working closely with the rest of the Vice-editors of other sections to coordinate joint coverages.• I was praised for the immediacy and accuracy of our live coverage of breaking-news events and press conferences, both on the web page and on social media.
