Can you imagine the stress of finding out your entire enterprise has been hacked and that all the servers and storage devices have been compromised along with your ability to recover? I had been hired by a client to assess their ability to recovery in the event of a natural disaster or cyber event. The morning I was to give those findings to the client I received a call by a physically and emotionally exhausted director of IT telling me they had been hacked and asking me to come down and see if I could help them. The team was dealing with the stress of a complete outage of all business systems, the FBI interrogating everyone and the fact all their personal information (address, wages, etc.) was scrolling on the company’s website. I helped get folks focused on identifying what was known and setting up what we needed to focus on first. The relief was palpable when we were able to tell them we had a copy of their CommServer database we could recovery the backup environment from, as a matter of fact, their team lead in that area screamed “yes!” he was so relieved. My last night there I was having dinner with the vice president and his director of technology. They both stated that “having you helping the recovery team was a huge relief for us, we knew it would be sorted through and we would get accurate and timely updates. Neither of us believe we would have been as successful had someone else been here, thank you.”This is just one example how we walked into an emotionally charged situation, assessed, and then took what they had looked at as impossible and made it possible.I have had two segments to my career, the first as an executive focused on the operational aspect of running manufacturing businesses and the other as a technology developer / architect. My technology background, and more importantly my business acumen, has allowed my team and I to help large multinational corporations align their IT capabilities to their business goals. I am absolutely passionate about moving IT out of the “no you can’t do that” column, into the agile, business enabler / empowerer column. All while maximize IT value.I adamantly believe that we are unique in that we have a track record of bringing all the benefits of enterprise IT to the SMB market and an affordable price. In this new reality we face today, SMB companies must be able to pivot instantly to meet new threats to their business or to stay competitive. My wife and I have five kids, four dogs that we love and spend most weekends at either martial arts tournaments, shooting matches and BMX races.
