About Karin Melberg

I am most energized and effective when engaged in organizational / operational transformation. I am an excellent and recognized change agent, business process developer, communicator, trainer, coach and motivator... passionate about leveraging and adjusting culture and mindset, measurement and visualization of transformation activities, and prioritizing customers' needs and delivery quality as leading drivers of change.I am proud of my engineering and go-to-market career in the telecommunications industry, during which I successfully held a variety of development, intrapreneurial, and ultimately leadership roles within Motorola, Motorola-Nortel, Nokia-Siemens Networks, and most recently Nokia. My experience extends across business functions: from software design, development and testing; to field deployment; service delivery operations; and into customer account management and sales. I am practiced in many tools and engineering methodologies, have authored accepted technical papers, and enjoyed invited panel membership and conference speaking opportunities. I also have considerable international travel, ex-pat, and customer-facing experience in several countries with multiple carrier customers and vendor partners. I continually engage in a variety of ongoing education that provides additional insight and value to my assignments. Beyond an initial BS in Electrical Engineering I have subsequently earned an MS in Computer Systems Engineering, and in 2011 completed the MBA Program at the University of Chicago.I also pursue a 'second act' entrepreneurial career in investment / commercial real estate and in leveraging Smart Home technologies for remote property management.

Listed skills include Telecommunications, Strategy, Program Management, Management, and 33 others.

Transformation Architect: Continuous Integration, Test Automation, And Release Delivery

Current

Espoo, Southern Finland, Fi

In 2020, I accepted an interesting and challenging opportunity to help the Radio Platforms Development organization through a critical operational transformation, while living in Northern Finland! In 2022, I returned to the US and continue in this gratifying and dynamic role.Leading the RF CI/CD (DevOps) Initiatives for the 2000+ member global product development team producing SAFe (Agile-based) Continuous Integration, Trunk-based, frequent software release promotions. Includes leading development and implementation of the CI/CD capability roadmap, developing and communicating performance KPIs and communication dashboards for stakeholders, establishing new operational governance, new engineering team roles, a coaching community to quickly enable competence development, and staying aligned with our parent Mobile Networks' ambitions and initiatives. One measure of our success is seen in the RF Build Release Frequency KPI which has increased 1300% from 2020 through 2023. Significant additional improvements are anticipated from continued CI pipeline automation / streamlining, increasing test automation / coverage, and with the application of additional HW Radio Test Beds for each of the strategic customer SW Lines. Our release frequency improvements have come hand in hand with very significant quality gatekeeping and defect containment improvements as well.Success to date in this role relies heavily on my previous Technical Leadership and SW Product Development experience, and in leveraging excellent communication methods.
