Project Manager
Greater Denver Area
I successfully coordinated projects in countries around the world, including Gabon, Bahrain, the Democratic Republic of Congo, India, Myanmar and Colombia. In my position as a project manager, I responded to the client, the company that contracted us, my company, and a range of government and local officials. With so many interests and priorities on the table, it was essential that I demonstrate strong communication skills, flexibility, and a solution-oriented approach. In the preliminary stages of a project, I was responsible for negotiating access and any required permits and stipulations for work in the host country and in that specific community. This often required communicating and negotiating with many different people, from federal organizations to village chiefs, demanding a great deal of diplomacy and cultural sensitivity.Upon arriving in country, I hired and trained local staff and developed a project-specific plan for project implementation, tracking, and monitoring. This allowed me to quickly gather large amounts of data and assimilate it into meaningful and useful daily reports to all parties. Throughout the project, I provided various types of reports and documentation, including written reports, maps, presentations, and spreadsheets. This also allowed me to be proactive and easily identify next steps for action as well as meet project deadlines. We completed these surveys in sites all around the world, and each came with its' own unique set of challenges. In Bahrain, I led underwater surveying teams in scuba gear - the first time Peregrine had ever done this. In the Congo, we were in an area riddled with landmines and had to hire demining specialists. In Gabon we worked in dense vegetation and had to face the many challenges of an African jungle environment, including charging elephants. In Colombia, as a foreigner, I was not even allowed to leave base due to kidnapping threats and had to find new creative ways to manage the project.
