I conducted basic research on mechanisms regulating trafficking of the plasma membrane during cell invasion. My work used C. elegans anchor cell invasion as a model for other cell invasion events in development and disease, including cancer metastasis. In so doing, I discovered that this invasive cell generates a temporary membrane diffusion barrier.
