The Clinical Nurse Coordinator is responsible for managing and maintaining a 31-bed Medical ICU. This ensures that on every shift, the patients are being cared for adequately with a leader that is not only proficient in critical care nursing but is also able to ensure quality teamwork. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator is also responsible to respond to codes within the hospital. This includes Code Blues, Code Whites (Rapid Responses), Code BERTs, and Code Strokes. As Skyline Medical Center is a comprehensive stroke center, the Clinical Nurse Coordinator is responsible for providing a thorough neurological assessment and contacting the Neurologist with specific findings and criteria to warrant further treatment. Charge/manage a 31-bed MICU and also a 12-bed COVID positive ICU.

The charge nurse in the CCU at Skyline Medical Center is responsible for leading a multidisciplinary team including the intensivist, pharmacist, case management, and respiratory therapy. This role required leadership over a 22-bed critical care unit. The patient population consisted of post STEMI, hemorrhagic and embolic strokes, respiratory failure, ARDS, post-cardiac arrest, renal replacement therapy (CRRT), sepsis, and septic shock.

I completed CORE 1 and CORE 2 with excellent scores. I became the night shift charge nurse of a 20-bed med/surgical ICU in June 2014.

This position was in a medical surgical pediatric unit caring for patients at infancy to elderly. As a nursing assistant, my main role was to provide basic care to patients, including assisting with daily activities. Nursing assistants need to have excellent communication skills since it is important to know their job consists of bringing patient concerns to the floor registered nurses. Typical duties of a nursing assistant include taking the patient's blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature, bathing, dressing, eating, and assisting in monitoring patients hourly.
