The London Borough of Camden is a hugely diverse wedge of 22 square kilometres of inner London. Working in this vibrant borough, I provide HR support to our Supporting People Directorate. I deal with the complete employee life cycle, providing advice on all aspects of performance management, employee relations (complex case work, including employment tribunal claims), change management, TUPE, recruitment and pay.

I was initially the HR Business Partner for the organisation’s Finance and Corporate Services functions however, following an organisational restructure this changed to Finance and Customer Contact. I dealt with the complete employee life cycle including all aspects of performance management, employee relations, recruitment and selection and learning and development. The position also involved project management and responsibility for more complex HR activities such as TUPE transfers. In addition, I had corporate responsibility for learning and development, performance management and recruitment. I had to ensure that I built relationships with external stakeholders including recruitment agencies and learning and development providers in order to negotiate on service delivery and cost.

Working with the organisation’s Finance, Corporate Services and Supported Housing functions I dealt with all aspects of performance management, employee relations, recruitment and selection and learning and development, providing coaching to line managers to manage their respective HR responsibilities. Additionally, I worked as part of small team managing learning and development across the organisation with responsibility for managing budgets, undertaking learning needs analysis and organising corporate learning and development activities. I also built relationships with a number of external stakeholders including recruitment agencies and learning and development providers in order to negotiate on service delivery and cost.

I was the HR representative for the organisation’s Resources department dealing with the complete employee life cycle including all aspects of performance management, employee relations, recruitment and selection and learning and development. I provided coaching to line managers to manage their respective HR responsibilities, acted as the first point of contact for online system enquiries and managed work experience opportunities within the organisation. I was also responsible for producing and analysing management information for the Executive Team and other senior managers. While in this position I completed the CIPD Professional Development Scheme and gained Graduate Membership of the CIPD as well as being awarded with North Hertfordshire College’s Professional Leaner of the Year Award in 2008.

I acted as the first point of contact for HR queries and maintained and updated the employee database (Snowdrop). I was involved in supporting the delivery of the annual employee conference, contract and benefit administration and conducting HR Inductions for new employees. I continued to produce and edit the organisation’s weekly newsletter, which was circulated to 300 employees and administered the organisations core training events.

I was responsible for sending out corporate mail shots, invoicing clients, paying the employee wages, as well as general office duties including typing, filing and answering the telephone.
