I represent companies and individuals in high stakes litigation, particularly in patent matters. I am a first chair trial lawyer, having tried cases before the ITC and district courts. I have also successfully served as lead appellate counsel in numerous matters before the Federal Circuit, presenting ten oral arguments to that court. In addition, I have handled more than 60 inter partes review proceedings for patent owners, achieving numerous successful outcomes at the institution and final written decision stages. Our firm has been among the ten most active firms in the country in representing patent owners in high tech patent disputes, according to third-party analyses. We have also ranked among the ten most successful firms in defending high tech patents against IPR challenges. I have repeatedly been named by Intellectual Asset Magazine among the IAM 300: the World’s Leading IP strategists. Bloomberg Law has also recognized me as one of five leading "next generation" IP lawyers who are "changing the game." In virtually every matter, I litigate against the world’s largest firms and companies, and have a proven record of success across trials, appeals, and post-grant IPR proceedings. I am also an author and speaker on IP policy. With Richard Epstein, I co-authored the highly influential article, “Why Incentives for Patent Holdout Threaten to Dismantle FRAND and Why It Matters,” published in the Berkeley Technology Law Journal. The article has been widely cited, and influenced a significant policy shift at the DOJ regarding patent injunctions and antitrust law.
