In this role, I got to serve as a summer intern at the YWECC, which is the branch of youth ministry at West End Community Church. By taking this role, I regularly arranged lunches with students, where I would meet with them and get talk to them about their lives and what is going on, asking them how they were. I also got to help in planning events, making announcements about events, getting supplies, and setting up along with clean up. Over the summer I served as a counselor on two different retreats where I led small groups and were in charge of rooms while leading discussions. I also had the opportunity to prepare two talks, one about Thanksgiving and Prayer while the other one was about how we are called to walk with Christ as we are established in Him. I was incredibly blessed to serve in this role as I felt equipped in many ways to continue a career in ministry.

In this role as an apprentice, I have the pleasure of getting to serve with the youth and college ministry, but also all around the church. By taking this role, I am regularly leading small groups every other Sunday and Wednesday night, planning events for our students to attend on off weeks, and helping plan for or teach on Sunday nights. Also in this role, I get to regularly meet with interns and volunteers, checking in on them and seeing how I can serve or come alongside them while also doing the same with our youth directors and college pastor. Being present in regular staff meetings and being more involved behind the scenes has helped me understand the inner workings of the church and see what day-to-day ministry looks like.

By taking this role, I regularly arranged lunches with students, where I would meet with them and get talk to them about their lives and what is going on, asking them how they were. I also got to help in planning events, making announcements about events, getting supplies, and setting up along with clean up. Over the summer I served as a counselor on two different retreats where I led small groups and were in charge of rooms while leading discussions. I also had the opportunity to prepare a talk about how we are called to walk with one another over the summer, touching on the topic of being there for others, and had the pleasure of giving this talk to the students. I was incredibly blessed to serve in this role as I felt equipped in many ways to continue a career in youth ministry, or pursue counseling.

I gave tours of the facilities and would answer any questions a customer had as well as sell them a membership to our fitness center if interested. Another one of the responsibilities that I had was to make sure mirrors and windows were wiped down, machines and weights were not only re-racked but also sanitized, and deep cleaned to try and rid of dust or trash around the gym.

I helped out at camp (Pine Cove: Outback) by keeping an eye on the kids, teaching them important lessons on how to be responsible and mentor them to be great when they grow older. I also had the privilege of serving in the projects manager role where if any problems arose with facilities, I was the guy you let know. I was the one who would handle it.

I not only kept eyes on members like a hawk to ensure their safety, but would also welcome them and check them in at the pool or the Fitness Center when I worked in there during the colder months. I also kept up around the pool by picking up and taking out trash, sanitizing sitting areas, doing laundry for towels, and taking care of and cleaning bathrooms. Another thing I did while I worked in the fitness center at the club was sanitize and wipe down equipment as well as organize it.

I got the privilege of working in Missions office at Oak Mountain Presbyterian Church where I got to help run and organize meetings and manage the social media profiles.
