Knut is a Norwegian consultant in international development, currently based in Brazil. He has more than 20 years’ experience from development aid, management, and program reviews, with several years' country experience from Brazil, the Middle East and Mozambique/SADC region, mainly working for the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Norad. His key areas of thematic expertise are sustainable development, climate and environment, forestry/REDD+, indigenous peoples, social safeguards and private sector development. He holds an MA degree in Social Anthropology, and is fluent in Portuguese, English and Norwegian.Knut is an expert on program management, and has helped design and implement a number of grant schemes, developing due diligence- and program review procedures, as well as undertaking evaluations and reviews. In 2008 he was key responsible for establishing Norad's REDD+ grant scheme, and was also responsible for managing all REDD+ related projects in Peru and Brazil. He was also project leader for arranging the first Oslo Redd Exchange Conference in 2011 (now: Oslo Tropical Forest Forum). Knut has also worked on both long-term and aid to Palestine, including establishing partnerships between Palestinian and Israeli enterprises underneath the People-to-People program. From 2011-2014 he headed the Norwegian Embassy in Mozambique's REDD+ and CDM project portfolio, as well as the Norwegian Oil for Development programme. In 2015 he was the editor of the Whitepaper "Working Together", outlining Norwegian policies on private sector development. For the past five years, he has been head of KPMG’s team on Private Sector Development / Climate and Environment. He is currently an independent consultant, and happy to be of assistance!
