The use of DGGE (Denaturing Gradient Gel Electrophoresis) to determine distribution and abundance of bacterial Vibrio populations in the Delaware Inland Bays. Discovered that bacterial Vibrio populations were most abundant at the "mouths" of estuaries after mapping bacterial populations throughout the Delaware inland bays.

Laboratory and field studies examining the causes and consequences of biogeographic patterns of body size in the Eastern Lubber grasshopper, in particular, studied the variation between the thermal ecologies of grasshoppers at various sites.
