Kobus cofound Swallow15 Music School in 2003. Today it is the largest music school in South Africa, having taught more than 20,000 students, and coaching more than 80 kids playing in bands.Famous musicians started their careers, teaching at Swallow15, including: Elvis Blue, Joshua na die Reën, Connell Cruise, Die Kat se Snor and many more.Kobus is also an acclaimed musician. At age 21 he won the National Battle of the Bands and was signed to Gallo Record Company. In 2013 Kobus was signed by Hit Records as lead singer and songwriter of 'Die Kat se Snor' and won the Tempo Award for Best New Afrikaans Act in South Africa in 2013. He had his first countrywide radio hit at age 22 and to date, eight of his songs have featured on more than one hundred radio stations. He also starred in the successful movie 'Hoofmeisie' as the ‘rockstar’ and wrote the title song “Hoofmeisie".
