About Koby Michaels
I tell engaging and accessible stories about science, education, and the environment. At their heart, even the biggest, most complicated stories are about people — and those are the stories I tell best.I've been communicating science since accidentally joining The Ubyssey, UBC’s student newspaper, in 2014. During my time at the paper, I founded the science section, serving as the section's editor for two years.Since then, I've reported for WBUR and NPR, shot and produced videos from coast to coast to coast in Canada, and been nominated for a Webster awards along the way. I've worked as a journalist, photographer, editor, science educator, curriculum writer, filmmaker, photographer, STEM outreach specialist, and even a kayak instructor. When I'm not at work, you can usually find me running in the mountains, doing my best not to crash on skis, or drinking green tea.
Listed skills include White Water Kayaking, Standup Paddleboarding, Biology Tutoring, Video Editing, and 12 others.
