Interning at Ciberspring was my first job ever and one that I have continued at Iowa State in a remote role. Being able to work with so many people over the years, seeing how a company like Ciberspring is run, and working on various projects has been very important to my growth as an individual and has shaped how I am as a worker. Most of the jobs that I have done are in the realm of helping do technology tasks. I learned how to code Java and Python within this role and from taking Computer Science classes at Iowa State. I have spent the last two summers recruiting for the Alpha Mu Chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity. This job has allowed me to work on my ability to sell as I spend most of the summer traveling around the midwest, going to potential new members' hometowns, and selling them on joining Theta Chi Fraternity at Iowa State University. The job is a traveling salesman position, and working on a skill like cold calling and pitching an idea to people is very valuable. I also had a budget throughout the summer that I had to manage while traveling and planning events. Recruitment is extremely competitive since Iowa State is one of the larger Greek lives in the Midwest. Through this competitive environment, I have had to perfect my ability to say why Theta Chi is better than any other fraternity on campus to get new members to sign, which is very similar to being able to close a business deal.
