I am working on enabling data-driven companies and on supporting data science and business in their daily work life. My capabilities are in the areas of data management and integration at scale, distributed (database) systems, big data, data science, cloud computing and autonomic computing. My main interests are on next generation systems and methods for data wrangling at scale used to extract, integrate and clean diverse datasets. With a strong computer science and business intelligence background, I am a person who likes playing with cutting-edge technologies and exploring new trends. In my engineering life I worked mainly with Java-based technologies (10+ years of experience), encountered many tools from different areas, including Big Data, Cloud, HPC, DevOps tools and data science. I like diving into complex problems and implement scalable systems and data engineering solutions using fit-for-purpose technologies. I believe that the key towards establishing next generation systems lies in combining very good skills in algorithms and data structures, scalable software architectures, software design patterns, programming skills, and a profound mathematical and statistical background with a high interest and focus in and understanding of business cases and their implications.
