CCA’s Leadership Council is composed of high-level global advocates working to ensure that no one’s life is limited by how they cook. CCA’s Advisory Committee, a smaller group of Leadership Council members composed of leaders across private, public, and nonprofit sectors, provides strategic counsel to CCA and offers a diverse range of viewpoints critical to advancing partnerships, innovation, and impact in the clean cooking sector.

I led GOGLA, the global industry organization for the off-grid solar industry, representing producers, distributors and other industry stakeholders that provide electricity and light solutions to hundreds of millions of people that still lack access to modern forms of energy. By end 2023, this industry had reached over 561 million people, distributing over 50 million products per annum with a turnover of USD3.7 billion. I was the first Executive Director of the global association that represents this industry. I grew the organization from the ground up, to a diverse international team of 30 people across 3 continents and an annual budget of over USD 5m. Under my leadership GOGLA build robust platforms for industry engagement with government stakeholders in Africa and South Asia; organized the industry's leading events; developed market insights collection capabilities that are unique and indispensable for the industry; and set industry standards around doing business responsible and transparently. I GOGLA positioned itself as the indisputable voice for the off-grid solar industry in developing countries and developed partnerships with e.g. World Bank, Sustainable Energy for All, IRENA, IEA, bilateral donors and leading philanthropic foundations. Membership grew from 30 to over 200 organisations with consistently high member satisfaction scores.

As thematic expert, I was responsible for the supervision and monitoring of Dutch government support for renewable energy initiatives in developing countries. I had a specific focus on cooperation with private sector, including investment funds through IFC, FMO, GIZ and RVO; bilateral activities in Mozambique; and sustainable biomass production. I was responsible for activities with a combined budget of €27m.

Providing support and advice on business development, project formulation, subsidy requests, finance applications. Focus on renewable energy in developing and emerging economies, particularly biomass and biofuel. Assignments included private sector investment plans for biomass pellet production from wood and bamboo (FSC certified), ethanol production from casava, mass-produced plastic biogas digesters for small-holder farmers, sustainability certification of biofuel production, valorisation of biofuel by-products, business planning and strategic management support for a clean cooking focused carbon investment fund.

Responsible for business planning and project development within Diligent Energy Systems, a company involved in production of sustainable biofuel from Jatropha in Tanzania

As senior member of a small consultancy company, I was responsible for developing project proposals, creating partnerships and consortia, and leading project teams on various sustainability projects. Among others, I worked in Bulgaria on local energy efficiency measures and on national biodiversity monitoring; in Tanzania on establishing an off-grid solar company; in Bosnia-Hercegovina on introducing sustainable forestry certification; and in NL on building government capacities to implement EU water management regulation.

I was the senior environment adviser for DfID's bilateral international cooperation programme in Central and South-Eastern Europe, with specific focus on activities in Hungary and Romania.

I supported Bank investment teams with raising co-financing from bilateral donors for environmental and energy infrastructure projects in Central and Eastern Europe, and helped coordinate donor funding through the "Project Preparation Committee". Within this role I contributed to the EBRD positioning itself in relation to climate change and participated in the EBRD delegations to the UNFCCC CoPs in Kyoto and Buenos Aires.

Within the NL programme for cooperation with Central and Eastern Europe, I was responsible for managing bilateral cooperation programmes with Hungary, Slovakia and Latvia on energy efficiency, environmental protection, and transport. I led negations with partner governments, oversaw formulation of project concepts, led contracting procedures and monitored implementation.
