    Full Professor Intelligent Energy Systems
Eindhoven University Of Technology Sep 2020 - Present
    Eindhoven
Full Professor Intelligent Energy Systems in the Electrical Energy Systems (EES) group of the Eindhoven University of Technology (TUe). Principal scientist in intelligent energy systems research and education. Research focus is on smart grids and, more specifically, the application of intelligent software systems, Artificial Intelligence, in (electrical) energy systems in the broadest sense. These intelligent techniques include distributed systems, cyber-physical systems, complexity science and data science. With the team at EES, we focus on two research lines present in the group: distributed intelligence for power systems control & coordination, and data science & machine learning as applied to energy market trade and power systems operations.
  • Eindhoven University Of Technology
    Part-Time Professor Electrical Power Systems
Eindhoven University Of Technology Dec 2018 - Aug 2020
    Eindhoven Area, Netherlands
Part time professorship (hoogleraar) in power systems control and coordination. Special focus is on the major challenges faced at the distribution grid level in the energy transition. Unleashing the large potential of prosumer flexibility located in the distribution grids is a key prerequisite for a successful energy transition and to accommodate the related ongoing electrification trend (electrification of transport, industry and heating). This professorship is part of a long-lasting cooperation between TU/e and TNO. At TNO, this professorship falls under the Energy R&D Roadmap "Towards a Reliable Sustainable Energy System" and is partly financed from TNO ICT. At TU/e, the professorship is part of the Intelligent Power Grid section of the Electrical Energy Systems group.

    Eindhoven
Part-time researcher in the Electrical Energy Systems group of the Electrical Engineering department. Setting up a joint research program between TUe, TNO and other partners on smart grid coordination, especially related to complexity science and distributed computing.
  • Megamind
    Program Director
    Megamind Mar 2021 - Present
    The Netherlands
Heading a consortium of 9 knowledge-intensive companies and 6 knowledge institutes developing a techno-regulatory transition pathway for the electricity ecosystem on the level of the distribution grid. The main driver is that we realize that the way value-chain partners in the local electricity system jointly adopt digital technologies, especially Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the way the legislator allows them to do so, are key for the success of the energy transition.
