At LCFI, my research will examine the colonial standards of measurements and characteristics used to define Africa as technologically poor, and how these standards and characteristics continue to define Africa’s place in the current global technological superiority race. Also, I am exploring how these colonial superiority perceptions inform the current approaches used by the West to engage Africa on emerging technologies like AI. What are the colonial relations and perceptions being reproduced by the leading players of Africa’s technological revolution?

Conducting research to develop an inclusive framework for Artificial Intelligence (AI) firms/initiatives in sub-Saharan Africa.

Developed knowledge mobilization strategies for five Canadian public sector institutions in Edmonton Alberta. This includes identifying key stakeholders, key messages and channels for the delivery of key messages. Most importantly, developed strategies of how these five public sector institutions could benefit from academic research.

•Developed and executed a social media strategy for two socially marketed brands under a $3m USAID funded project.•Engaged with online audience, quarterly, to discuss how to improve products and to ascertain fi the product is meeting their needs and demystify any misconception.•Ensured the quality and timely production of all promotional materials, including, but not limited to, brochures, flyers, posters, branded shirts, pens, etc•Liaised with professional writers and photographers to ensure effective coverage •Produced bi-weekly and quarterly performance reports shared with funders and supervisors.

In this role, I coordinated all local and international visits to the company including visits by John Stone, Gates Foundation, Jacqueline Novogratz founder of Acumen, USAID, etc. I represented the company at both local and international conferences making presentations and creating partnerships. Social Media/Website: Developed and executed social media strategy to increase the company’s online presence by 208% and expanded the organization’s reach. Introduced a quarterly Twitter chat with experts to discuss pertinent issues on sanitation. Provided media and communications training for staff, building their capacity to work with the communications team to gather quality stories from the field. I managed and maintained Clean Team's website to ensure it continues to be dynamic and updated with fresh, relevant content, including implementing tactics for search engine optimization.Media: I have written several blog posts and articles for both local and international media on behalf of Clean Team. I have represented the company as a panelist on various online panel discussions including The Guardian UK. Developed and supervised the production of the first corporate video projectBranding/Marketing: Worked with graphic designers to develop brochures, marketing materials and content in consistent with the Clean Team brand. Worked and supported the launch of a marketing strategy in partnership with Unilever to help Clean Team scale up.Event: Coordinated and planned World Toilet Day/sanitation events which attracted local and international recognition. Photography: Responsible for taking all company pictures and archiving them on a photo platform for use by both international and local media. Worked with professional photojournalists on several Clean Team projects.

The West Africa Trade Hub is a USAID-funded regional economic growth project with offices in Accra and Dakar. The project worked in five value chains, apparel, home decor & fashion accessories, shea, cashew, and specialty foods, and on issues affecting all businesses in the business environment, transportation, financial services, and telecommunications.My duties included:1. Reviewed the materials on the AGOA Toolkit and write short summaries of each document.2. Organized the AGOA materials by categories.3. Prepared the materials for publishing to the agoatoolkit.com website and CDROM and USB drive formats.4. Assisted in sharing content at international conferences through affiliates social media platforms.

I was the social media and content generating manager. I was responsible for managing all the social media platforms, monitor effective benchmarks for measuring the impact of social media campaigns. Analyze, review and report on effectiveness of campaigns in an effort to maximize traffic.Some projects worked on include:* Reported for IQ4News during the 2012 Ghana elections, shared content through articles, blog posts and pictures. * Organised and moderated the first IQ4News Google+ Hangout panel discussion on women and technology. * Joined a panel of bloggers and social media savvies on “The Stream”- Aljazeera for a discussion on the effect of social media on the Ghanaian 2012 election.
